Raymond Autry Pitts, 80, of East Palatka, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from natural causes. Born in the Johnson Community, Raymond was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. He served honorably for 7 years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Frontier. Raymond retired from the Tissue Converting Department at Georgia Pacific following 40 years of service. In his leisure time, Raymond enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Pitts and Kathleen Herron Pitts, a brother, Bobby Pitts and a sister, Betty Lewis.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda K. Pitts of East Palatka, 2 sons, Jody Pitts (Melodee) of Palm Coast and Michael Pitts (Jennifer) of Mansfield, AR, a daughter, Tammy Harthopf (Wayne) of Jacksonville, 2 sisters, Shirley Motes of Francis and Anette Hale of Idaho and 4 grandchildren, Isabella Pitts, Tamara Pitts, Christopher Pitts and Nichole Pitts.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Oak Hill West Cemetery with officiating. The U.S. Navy will also conduct military honors. No public visitation is scheduled.
