Allen V. (Mike) Smith, 85, of East Palatka, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Putnam County. He began working as a crane operator for Hudson Pulp and Paper in 1951 at the age of 16 and retired in 1997 after 45 and a half years, “don’t forget the half”, as a millwright. Allen enjoyed street rodding, traveling, gardening, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Hazel E. Smith, parents, Glenn and Virginia Smith, brother, Walter Smith and sister, Dawn Smith.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Yeomans (Tony) of Palatka, Wanda Perry (Timbo) of Hollister, Cindy Jordan (Greg) of South Carolina and Paris Mahon (John) of Tennessee, 7 grandchildren, Duane King, Clint Hersey, Brittany and Erica Mulvihill, Aaron Reeser, Jordan Fisher and AJ Yeomans and 12 great-grandchildren, Hannah Yeomans, Cole and Kaiden Mahon, Isabel, Zack, Trevor and Chloe King, Suzie Hersey, JR and Conner Kreidler and Karmyn and Kollin Roeder.
Due to COVID 19, a private service for family and close friends celebrating Allen’s life will be held on at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Allen’s home.
