Obituary for Audrey Champion

Audrey Frances Champion, 86, of Palatka, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. She was born and raised in Newark, NJ and moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1961. Audrey worked at Broward General Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale for close to 40 years and when she retired she moved to Palatka, Fl. She was of the Catholic faith and was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and was a volunteer at Federal Little League and Floyd Hull Stadium for many years.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Maryanne Maguire, parents, Joseph and Mae Murphy and brother, Joseph Murphy.
She is survived by her son, Earle Joseph “EJ” Champion, II (Sharon) of Cooper City, FL, daughter, Lisa Purtill (Brent) of Palm Bay, FL, grandchildren, Joseph Champion, Mark Houseknecht, Ryan Houseknecht, Brandon Vetter, Sarah Purtill and Lauren Purtill, James Maguire (Rachel), Debra Maguire-Zehnal, as well as great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Rose Houseknect, Matthew Purtill, Isabella Purtill, Ocean Purtill, Meghan Maguire, Hayden Stilphen, and Kaila Van Dyke.
The family will receive friends at the Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka, Fl on Monday beginning at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2023 and the memorial service will start at 3:00 pm. with Brother Ricky Bybee officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Fl at a later date.
