Austin Blane Johns, Jr., 37, of East Palatka, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at home following an extended illness. Born in St. Augustine, he lived most of his life in Putnam County. Blane was a 2004 graduate of Palatka High School and a 2006 graduate of St. Johns River Community College. In 2009, he received his Bachelors Degree from Florida State University. Blane taught 2 years at Palatka High School and then transitioned to Harbor Freight where he served as a manager in the Palatka and St. Augustine stores. He later worked at Palatka Flooring. Blane was a member of Hastings Masonic Lodge #184 F&AM. In his leisure time, Blane enjoyed Star Wars, following his Florida State Seminoles and listening to music.
He is survived by his son, Jude Parker Johns of Palatka, his parents, Austin Johns and Sandra Parker Johns of East Palatka, a sister, Erin Franks (Cody) of Angier, NC, a niece, Tilly Franks, 2 nephews, Colton Franks and Grayson Franks as well as many aunts, uncles and loving cousins.
In addition to his loving family, Blane was blessed to have the “angels” from Community Hospice who were so loving in giving care to Blane in his latter days.
Services celebrating Blane’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 17, 2023 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor Barry Mathis officiating. Hastings Lodge #183 F&AM will also conduct Masonic Rites. Burial will follow at Pellicer Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00.
