Obituary for Betty Jean Evans

Betty Jean Evans, 81, of Palatka, passed from this life on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Lilac at Bayview Skilled Nursing Facility in St. Augustine following an extended illness. She was born and raised in Alamo, Georgia and moved to Putnam County 58 years ago from Alamo. Betty Jean worked as a machine operator at Florida Furniture Industries for 30 years. Following her time at Florida Furniture, she worked 5 years as a greeter at Wal-Mart. In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and loved her canine companion, “Scoobie”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eschol and Vivian Clark, 3 brothers, Bobby Clark, Junior Clark and Vernon Clark as well as a daughter-in-law, Penny Evans.
Betty Jean is survived by 2 daughters, D. Sue Cumbo and Judy Williamson-Helsel (Doug), 2 sons, Bruce Evans and Robert Evans, 2 brothers, Donnie Clark (Elaine) and Mickey Clark, 3 sisters, Dorothy Gregg (Bob), Maxine Logue Bell (Roy) and Brenda Faye Dennis (Frank), 8 grandchildren, Travis Cumbo, Deena Cumbo, Ashleigh Williamson-Lemus , Caitlin Williamson, Brittany Millan, Carl Evans, Destiny Dey and Damion Evans and 9 great-grandchildren.
Services celebrating Betty Jean’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 24, 2022 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Ricky Bybee officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery in Palatka. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M.
