Obituary

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Lisle, 94, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, celebrating her birthday in the presence of the Lord. Betty was born in Umatilla, FL on January 12, 1927 to Frederick and LaVonne Ruggles.
Loved ones who preceded Betty to heaven were her husband of 56 years, Thomas W. Lisle, brother, James R. “Buddy” Ruggles and parents, Frederick and LaVonne Ruggles.
Elizabeth held a life-long passion and talent for landscaping and maintaining her beautiful yard, enjoying nature through her flowers and creativity. She loved to travel. She was a devoted wife and mother, giving support and love to all of her family and modeling Christian values through her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. She loved sports, especially Florida State University football and any sport her children and grandchildren played. Betty gave all that she was to creating and maintaining a home that provided a secure and loving environment to nurture those who meant the most to her – her family. She was a mother who loved unreservedly and lived each moment fully. She will be so missed.
Betty’s survivors include her five children, Michael L. Lisle (Ann) of Palatka, Pat Lisle (Mary) of Palatka, Denise Owen (Dale) of Fleming Island, April Curtis (Kenny) of Palatka, Doug Lisle (Renee) of Jacksonville, NC, 13 grandchildren, Michelle Price (Bill) of St. Augustine, Michael Lisle Jr. (Jenny) of Charleston, SC, Kevin Lisle of Palatka, Veronica Lisle of Palatka, Olivia Lisle (Austin Easterling) of St. Augustine, Karl Owen (Dawna) of Fleming Island, Kristopher Owen of Fleming Island, Jennifer Cahan-Hill (Jamie Christoforo) of St. Augustine, Leah Curtis Hines of East Palatka, Stefanie Doricchi (Rino) of Tallahassee, Jonathan Raynor (Kristin) of Hampstead, NC, Nicholas Lisle (Adrianna Espinoza) of Phoenix, AZ, Zachary Lisle of Jacksonville, NC, 19 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elsie McNabb of Oak Ridge, TN plus nieces, nephews, many friends and her Peniel Baptist Church family.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Peniel Baptist Church with Bro. Lester Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Peniel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Johnson-Overturf Chapel on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Due to concerns of COVID19 those in attendance are asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

Praying for the family.
I will never forget her humor and how she and Luddy made me happy just watching them together. Their love was so evident.

So sorry for your loss, but so happy for Miss Betty to be called home on her birthday. She is now rejoicing with loved ones she has not seen for a while and she finally gets to to meet her Lord face to face. Couldn't ask for a better birthday present. I had two other mothers beside my mom. One was Miss Flora Mae Bennett and the other was Miss Betty Lisle. Spent a lot of time in the homes of both. The love they showed to me will never be forgotten. May the Holy Spirit comfort the family through this time of mourning.
