Beverly Jean Willis, 58, of Macclenny, and formerly of Palatka, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. A native of Jacksonville, Beverly was born handicapped and had lived a good part of her life in care facilities. For the last several years she had been a resident of Serenity at Twin Lakes in Macclenny.
Words from Beverly’s mother: “I am so grateful to speak of this precious gift to me for the last 58 years. I think of my life without “my Tater” and I think I am the most blessed mother on the planet, to have someone who lights up when I walk into the room. No one has ever loved me quite like it. Bev has touched so many lives! I thank God for her and her family who loved her. I am speechless to express my gratitude to Ms. Lauren for the support over the years. I have experienced a love from them that many people don’t experience, and I thank you. Bev had a secret world for many years. A world that I was not always there for during my career. She lived for music and her mother, which filled her mind so she could overcome anything else. Love and music were her life, should be all of our lives. For all who knew her, this story will never end, cause she was the light of our life. We propped her up for many years, and in the end, she propped us up! We all understand what real unconditional love is really like. I thank all of her family and friends for your support over the years.”
She is preceded in death by her father, Herbert Eugene Willis and step-father, Robert Thompson.
She is survived by her mother, Sylvia “Mama Sue” Thompson and her significant other, Mike Patt of Palatka, brother, Mark Willis (Michelle) of Twin City, GA, sister, Teri Willis of Atlanta, GA and step-brother, Bobby Thompson (Dana) of Nicholson, GA.
Private burial was held at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at Beverly’s Book of Memories page at .
Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.

We miss you Beverly you were the life of the party here at Serenity. Our very own Rock-in -Roll Lady! We miss you smile and your laughter and enjoyed everything about you. Thank God for sending you our way to share these last moments in life with us. How blessed we are to have experienced how you lived your life with such joy and happiness. Music therapy is not the same without you watching you dance and suggesting what songs to play next. Your laugh when something funny is said or done. You are greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

Beverly had personality to spare!
She expressed her strong will and compassionate heart clearly to those of us fortunate enough to be part of her life. The easy-going girl that she was, it was rare to see any expression of dissatisfaction. Much more often we saw her smiling and dancing to music; aware, engaged and in tune with her world. No one knows this better than her mom. Miss Sue, your love for Beverly gives our hearts pause to have witnessed such an endearing bond. Beverly, with all her enthusiastic, uplifting, heartwarming, and delightful personality, will always bring a smile to our lips.
Thank you Happy Girl for sharing your joy with our world!
