Obituary for Bob Britton McGuire Jr.

Bob Britton McGuire, Jr., 68, of Palatka, passed from this life on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home following an extended illness. Bob was born in Norfolk, Virginia and had resided in Putnam County since 1964 coming from Mayo, Florida. He had served honorably in the U.S. Army. Bob worked several places over the years including as an over-the-road truck driver with Ryder Logistics (1997-2010), as a welder with St. Johns Shipbuilding and the last 10 years in the gypsum drywall industry with CertainTeed Gypsum (formerly Continental). Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church in Interlachen and in his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob B. McGuire, Sr. and Wynona Walker McGuire.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rhonda Mitchell McGuire of Palatka, his children, Bob Britton McGuire, III (fiancé Sonnie Bautista) of Riverside, CA, Shawna Marie Manis of Riverside, CA, Jordan McGuire of Bostwick and Gabby Johns (Auston) of Interlachen, a brother, Steve McGuire (Patti) of Bostwick, 2 sisters, Libby Adams (Steve) of Palatka and Debbie Tinsley (John “Bucky”) of Birch Tree, MO, 8 grandchildren, Jaden Nicholas, Skylee Wynn, Mason McGuire, Logan Manis, Gavin Manis, Parker Manis, Bentley McGuire and Mark Johns, a cousin who was like a brother, Edgar Hart (Holly) of Alton, MO and a nephew, Billy Joe Mitchell (Jessica) of Interlachen.
Services celebrating Bob’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Interlachen with Pastor Chris White officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. Graveside services will follow Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Mayo with the U.S. Army conducting military honors.
Flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
