Brownie Johnston, 75, a writer, an athlete, a veteran, and a native of Jacksonville, Florida, recently passed away in his home in Palatka, Florida. Brownie attended Robert E. Lee High School where he was a stand-out athlete in both basketball and baseball, going on to play baseball at the University of Florida. He spent most of his adulthood in New York City, before returning to Florida to care for his mother.
He is predeceased by his mother Juanita Mayberry; father, George Johnston; and brother, Quin Johnston. He is survived by his nephew, Rafael Quin Godwin.
Brownie recently fulfilled a lifelong long dream, publishing two novels. His ashes will join his brothers’ in the Atlantic Ocean.
