Charlotte Elizabeth McNeely, 78, of Palatka, passed from this life on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Gadsden, Alabama, Charlotte graduated from Alabama Christian College (now Faulkner University) in Montgomery, AL. She moved from Ocala to Palatka in 1979 where she worked for 10 years in food service with the Putnam County School District at Kelley Smith Elementary School and Palatka High School. In 1998, she moved to Mount Dora where she became the cafeteria manager at Mount Dora Christian School until 2013. She returned to Palatka in July 2017. Charlotte was a very active member of the St. Johns Ave. Church of Christ in Palatka and at the Orange Ave. Church of Christ while residing in Mount Dora. In years past, she had also served as a scout leader. In her leisure time, Charlotte loved sewing, cooking and wood-working.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor H. Barton and Beatrice Reeves Barton.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ray McNeely, her children, Shawn McNeely (Mary) and Beth Barnett, all of Palatka and David McNeely (Kim) of Lithia, FL, a brother, David Rodney Barton (Jayne) of Gainesville, 8 Grandchildren, Ryan McNeely, Christina Collins (Jeff), Brett Barnett, Trace King, Emma King, Emerson McNeely, Everly McNeely and Easton McNeely and 5 great-grandchildren, Braxton McNeely, Raylan McNeely, Emilia McNeely, Victoria Collins and Jaden Collins.
Memorial services celebrating Charlotte’s life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the College Road Church of Christ with Bro. Rusty Hilliard and Bro. C.L. Overturf, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Central Florida Bible Camp, 23813 CR 44A, Eustis, FL 32736.
