Obituary for Cliff Hager

Following a long illness, Clifford J. Hager of Palatka, Florida died in the arms of his loving wife, Lois M. (Maynard) Hager at their home in Villa Farms at approximately 11:30 pm Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2020.

Cliff was born in Seth, West Virginia to Dell & Opal (Woodrum) Hager.

At age 83 he leaves behind his wife of sixty years, his son Ron Hager (spouse Janine Rodrigues) of Arlington, Virginia & son Jerry Hager (Susan Barbera Hager) of Nashville, Tennessee, six surviving grandchildren, one sister, Charlotte Ann (Hager) Leedy (spouse John Leedy) of Seth, West Virginia, one niece, one nephew & countless other family & friends.

One son, Robert Hager of Palatka, Florida preceded Clifford in death in November of 2018. Clifford was also preceded in death by both parents & one brother, Jack Hager,

Cliff was in the US Army for four years; he also spent 11 years in the Army Reserve. Clifford worked at General Motors in Michigan for 30 year then retired to Palatka, Florida were he & his wife were blessed with twenty-six more full & happy years.

He began singing gospel music with his father when he was very young & continued singing & playing guitar for many years. He sang in a quartet started by his father… The Coal Valley Four, also The Huron Valley Quartet & The Shining Light Trio & released numerous recordings over six decades.

Throughout his life, Cliff enjoyed fishing, helping others, & adventure traveling, literally exploring new roads & rivers with his loving wife. He delighted in revelry, never missing an opportunity to laugh & entertain friends & family.

Clifford left behind a legacy of love for friends & family that there are no words to describe. Thank you, our dear & sweet-souled Brother in Our Lord. You will be missed by many & remembered with appreciation & joy in our hearts for having shared your beautiful life.
