Obituary for Dale Wendell Jack Collier Jr.

Dale Wendall Jack Collier, Jr., 59, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away May 17, 2020.
Born in Palatka, he attended Palatka High School. He attended First Baptist Church of Palatka in his youth and was a current member of Cross Point Baptist Church in Santa Rosa Beach. He was a carpenter, construction worker, handyman and jack-of-all-trades. Dale was a gifted and talented musician, singer, songwriter and guitar player. Music was his life. He woke up with a new song in his head almost every day.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Melita Cannon Turlington, maternal grandparents Kirby and Mabel Cannon of Palatka and paternal grandparents S.C. "Red" and Nell Collier of East Palatka.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Sherri Collier of Plant City, Florida; stepson Robby Dale (Valerie) of Santa Rosa Beach; father, Dale Collier, Sr., of East Palatka; stepmother “Mama Carolyn” Collier of Palatka; stepfather Neil Turlington of Palatka; stepbrothers Keith Collier (Margaret) of Boynton Beach and Kirk Collier of Palatka; niece Jessica Zavala (Will) of Orlando; nephews Kyle Collier of Atlanta, Georgia and Blake Collier of Oviedo; great-niece Daphne Zavala of Orlando; aunts Kay McNair (Park) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, “Auntie” Brooks Dumas (Steve) of Cumming, Georgia, Ona McLean, Merle Varnadoe (Harry) and Edna Bell, all of Palatka.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the start of the service at 5:30 p.m.
