Obituary for Donald "Don" Daley
Don Daley
Don was born on April 24th, 1957 in St. Augustine, Florida. He left this life on Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at Shands Hospital following a lengthy illness at the age of 66. He was raised in the Catholic faith. Don attended St. Monica's school and St. Monica's Catholic Church, before graduating from Palatka South High School in 1975. He later studied at the University of Florida.
Don worked several years for Central Office Supply in Gainesville before relocating to Asheville, NC. He returned to Gainesville in early 2000's where he began a very successful career in real estate. Don treasured not only his work experiences, but his special relationships with his colleagues and community contacts at M.M. Parrish Realty were an integral part of his life. His hobbies and interests were in the arts, music and dance, culinary arts, cooking and travel.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Yvonne Goraieb Daley. He is survived by his loving family, his brother, Bobby (Kim) Daley, sister, Bunny (Billy) Barnes, of Palatka, nephews and nieces, Brittany (Shane) Lobo, Chase (Lauren) Barnes, Cody (Haley) Barnes, Chelsey (Jese) McClellan, Cole (Bree) Barnes, Clellan Barnes, Zach (Jackie) Parrish and Jacob Parrish. A host of cousins and a wonderful group of devoted friends and colleagues.
Services are planned for Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at Johnson Overturf Funeral Home at 307 S. Palm Avenue, Palatka, Florida with burial at St. Monica's Cemetery. Visitation with family 9:30 -10:30 a.m., with service to follow at 10:30 with Father Mike Williams as officiant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to 352 Arts, 302 NE 6th Avenue, Gainesville, Florida (or any arts supported event) or to the Bread of Life, 320 N. 5th Street, Palatka, Florida 32177.
