Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Varnadoe

Elizabeth Ann Varnadoe, 85, of Holly Hill and formerly of Palatka, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Advent Health Daytona Beach. She was born in Robertsdale, AL and moved to Palatka at the age of 10. She had also lived in Ocala and most recently in Holly Hill. Elizabeth was a graduate of Georgia Baptist College in Atlanta where she earned a degree in nursing. She had worked at her husband’s pharmacy, Druid Hills Pharmacy in Ocala and had also worked at Surgical Medical Center in Ocala. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, puzzles, reading, caring for others, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Richard E. Varnadoe, parents, Willard and Margaret Polk, and brother, Raymond Eugene Polk.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Scharfschwerdt (Bill) of Holly Hill, FL, Greg Varnadoe (Joni) of Dunnellen, FL and Richard E. Varnadoe, Jr. of White Lake, MI, sisters-in-law, Merle Varnadoe and Betty Sue Varnadoe, 7 grandchildren, William Scharfschwerdt (Ariel), Katie Gilmore (Michael), Matthew Scharfschwerdt, Marli Kevelin (Corey), Laney Varnadoe, Samantha Varnadoe, and Richard E. Varnadoe, III, great grandson, Cooper Kevelin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Buddy Lynch officiating. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 2:00 pm until the time of services.
