Obituary for Eugenia G. Morgante

EUGENIA G. MORGANTE
Eugenia Gertrude Morgante passed from this life to join her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 15, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 2, 1933 in St Louis, MO and lived most of her life in Palatka, FL. She was preceded in death by Nino E. Morgante, parents, Carl and Gertrude Strasser, and sister, Teresa Andrews. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church.

She dedicated her life to be a stay-at-home mom, homemaker and was our hero. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cards, puzzles, and musicals. She was always our go-to for trivia or movie answers. Whether you knew her as Mama Gene, Mom, G’ma, or grandma, you were certain she loved you unconditionally. She left a mark of love and joy on everyone she met. She will be sorely missed but has left us with many wonderful memories.

She is survived by her eleven children: Juliet Wadsworth, Dr. Cristiano Morgante, Lucinda Deputy, Valeria Morgante, Monica Fortner (Tim), Cara Gilbert, Nora Johnson (Robert), Gene Morgante (Renda), David Zeno (Joy), John Morgante, and Toni Gonzales (Victor); 23 grandchildren: Dr. Ashley Perry (Bryan), Felicia Mathews, Adam Deputy (Megan), Lindsay Morris (Justin), Drs. Rachael Evans (John), Albert Melcolm, Michael Flanders, Jr. (Windy), Sarah Fortner, John Pentkowski, Chase Fortner, Hannah Fortner, Katie Gilbert, Joseph Gilbert, Dr. Samantha Johnson , Monica Morgante-Collins, Jay Morgante, Quinn Morgante, Dylan Morgante (Elizabeth), Christopher, Thomas, Zane (Ashley), Alexandra, Brittany Lester, J.D. Lester (Kelli), and Courtney Lester. She was also dearly loved by many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and close family friends.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka. Burial will follow at Oak Hill East Cemetery in Palatka.
