Evelena R. Carter, 78, of Palatka, passed from this life on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. She was a native of Tifton, GA and had lived in Putnam County for the past 57 years. Evelena had worked as a carrier for the Palatka Daily News for many years. She was a member of San Mateo Church of God and enjoyed going to church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Carter, Sr., a daughter, Mary E. Armstrong, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Delores McQuaig, sons, Harvey Carter, Jr., Rodger Carter and Dwayne Carter, sister, Ruth Harrell, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Banks Funeral Chapel in Sylvester, GA with Bro. Phil Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Poulan Cemetery in Poulan, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1:00 until time of services.
