Florence “Flossie” Fields, 81, of Palatka, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness.
Born in Riverdale, raised in East Palatka and resided in Palatka. Flossie worked at Pic-N-Save, Putnam Memorial Hospital and retired from Georgia- Pacific, with 18 years of service in Tissue Converting.
She was a member of Francis Baptist Church. Flossie enjoyed embroidering and word search puzzles. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandkids and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Yankee” Fields, her parents, Sidney and Mary Lewis, her brothers, James, Eddie, Obie, Gary, and Keith Lewis.
Flossie is survived by a daughter; Kathy Fields, 3 sons; Ricky Fields (RaeNell), Edward Dean Fields and Wade Fields (Paula), sisters; Alma Stone and Judy Thompson, grandchildren; Chris Fields (Melissa), Casey Fields (Skyla), Robby Fields (Alex), Joshua Fields, Kadee Carroll (Taylor), Erin Baston, Shelly Plaisance, Amber Lyons and Jennifer Woodard. 19 great-grandchildren, 2 special nieces Jennifer Fields and Tiffany Richardson, as well as a brother-in-law whom she thought of as a son, Richard and his wife Sheila.
The family sends a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Roberts Care Center for the care given to Flossie and her family.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Brother Buddy Lynch officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 10:30 am until the time of services.
