Obituary for Frances A. Bays

Frances Ann Pruitt Bays, 80, of Palatka, passed away in her sleep, Tuesday, August 2. She was born in W. Va to James and Louise Pruitt. Her family relocated to Florida in 1955 where she attended Palatka High School and was proud that she was a member of the PHS band and a majorette. She moved to Orlando in the mid 1960’s and returned to Palatka in 1995. While living in Palatka she worked with Bonita’s Dance Studio and loved her work and became the adopted grandma to the girls at the studio. She never stopped talking about those girls. She was co-owner of Pollyanna’s Gift shop from 1999-2002. She hosted many Christmas Craft open houses in her home and she taught Tole Painting classes. She was a very talented painter.
She was of Baptist faith and had been a member of Calvary Baptist church of Sunny Heights,

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Bays, her mother and father, James and Louise Pruitt, and her sister Margaret Helen Pruitt, and cousin, Allen Phipps.

She is survived by three nephews Mike (Peggy) Crews, Billy (Tammy) Crews, and Scott Ard, and several great nieces and nephews and their children, cousins Martha Farmer and Polly McCallum, as well as her fur baby Prissy. She was so blessed to have her caregiver J’on Cannon and daughter Josee caring for her.
