George Lance “Pee Wee” Smith, 73, of Palatka, Florida passed from this life on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Bostwick and had worked at the paper mill for many years. “Pee Wee” enjoyed long rides down the grade and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Bostwick Baptist Church and found great joy in helping others. Pee Wee was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Post 184 in Palatka.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Christen Smith, parents, Harry L. Smith, and Wooten and Beatrice Smith, a sister, Wanda Faye Williams and brother, Harry W. “Tiny Boy” Smith.
He is survived by his sons, Lance Thomas (Michelle), Terry Smith (Jessi), daughters, Janann Holt (Misty), Selena Smith, Julie Vaught (Chad), sister, Beverly Kirkland (Jerry), grandchildren, Skyla Fields (Casey), Levi Vaught (Jordan), Jenna Holt, Savannah Cassidy (Ashton), Carlie Thomas, Kristen Carter, Kaleigh Vaught, Drew Thomas, Hunter Vaught, Caleb Thomas, Amelia Phillips, Austin Phillips, Charlee Rose Smith and Taylor Marie Smith, great-grandchildren, Carter, Clay, Karsyn, Ava, Rhett, Emersyn, and Candace, fiancé, Flo McRae, best friends, Rose and Ed Vaught as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Jeremy Rae officiating. Burial will follow in Bostwick Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of services.
