Obituary for Geraldine Long

Geraldine Long, 88, of Welaka, passed from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Tampa to William O. Hanbury and Nannie Butler Hanbury, she resided in Putnam County since the mid 1940’s. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Geraldine had also been a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Crescent City. In her leisure time, she enjoyed working in her yard and watching the birds as well as collecting ceramic birds.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Long, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Wilma A. Maxwell of Welaka and Alece T. Smith (Scott) of Welaka, a son, Calvin S. Long (Annie) of Cheyenne, WY, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and expecting another very soon. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Oakwood Cemetery in Welaka with Pastor Terry Wright officiating. No visitation is scheduled.
