Glenn (Mike) Thomas, 60, of Palatka, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Glenn was born in Palatka, and was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. He was a devoted husband, celebrating 43 years of marriage to the love of his life, Dora. Glenn was also a loving father to his four children: Shaun (Kim) Thomas of Palatka, Misty (Jonathan) Gleason of Oxford, Christopher (Erin) Thomas of Elkton, and Sarah (Matthew) Edwards of Palatka. He was a wonderful papa to his grandchildren Ben, Bella, LilaMae, Liam, Jacob, Savanah, Joshua, Caitlyn, Shane, Annastyn, Lawsyn, Madilynn, Grayson, Emersyn, Arlo and Tucker, who loved and adored him. He was also survived by his father, Darrell (Carrie) Thomas of Palatka, sister Becky (John) Long of Palatka, and brother Gerald (Billie Jo) Thomas of Palatka. He was also a faithful friend & brother in Christ to many.
He was proceeded in death by his mother, Betty Gene Thomas and his step-mother, Marjorie Thomas, uncles and aunts Franklin & Deanna Hayslip, Ronnie & Sherry Morris, and Roger (Kenny) Thomas and grandparents BJ & Eunice Thomas, Doris Thomas, and Franklin & Catherine Hayslip.
In addition to his family, Glenn was a skilled woodworking craftsman. He worked for over 20 years at Florida Furniture Industries. He was a local business owner for 12 years, and was a specialist in the top of his field for Lowes Corporate. Over the years, he served as a youth director, youth pastor, and deacon. He also served faithfully in the AWANA ministries. He was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Palatka. He loved spending time with his family and his sweetheart boating, camping, vacationing in the mountains and cooking, especially making his famous coleslaw. He was a man of God who led by example and leaves behind a lasting legacy.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Southside Baptist Church in Palatka with Pastor Shaun Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill West in Palatka. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
