Harriett B. Shepherd, 79, of Palatka, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Solaris Healthcare Palatka following an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Putnam County. Harriett was a 1958 graduate of Palatka High School. She had worked at the Diana Shop and Peniel Baptist Academy Pre-School. She was a member of Peniel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was involved in WMU and AWANA’s. In her leisure time, Harriett enjoyed crocheting, watching birds and reading her Bible.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Earl R. Shepherd, parents, Harry and Dorothy Burroughs and sister, Beverly Jean Hurst.
She is survived by her children, Bill Shepherd (Jamie), Felicia Ricks (Douglas), Lori Fowler (Billy) and Patti Day (Ricky) all of Palatka, sister, Dorothy Burroughs, niece, Lynn Owens Markel (David) both of Hollister, 17 grandchildren as well as 36 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Jason Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Peniel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
