Obituary for Harry Franklin Johntry Sr.

Harry Franklin Johntry, Sr., 77, of Johnson, passed from this life on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Johnson, he served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Harry worked as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor in the road/parking lot construction industry as well as with Jerry Mills Construction as well as Jerry’s Johns. He had also owned and operated Melrose Motors in the mid to late 1990’s. Harry had attended Woodlawn Baptist Church in Johnson. In his leisure time, Harry enjoyed spending time with his family boating, camping, Jai Lai and going to flee markets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Doris Johntry, a brother, Gene “Doc” Johntry, a special nephew, Michael Howard “Howie” Johntry and a niece, Jessica Lynn Stewart.
Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jo Johntry of Johnson, a son, Harry F. Johntry, Jr. of Johnson, a brother, Howard “Buddy” Johntry (Paula) of Orange Springs, a sister, Jackie Hertlein of Keuka, 3 grandchildren, Eric Russell Johntry (who was like a son) and his wife Jade, Tara Ivie and Daniel Cooper and their mother, Laurie Johntry, as well as his beloved dog, Jack.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Johnson Cemetery with Dr. L.D. Osteen officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Interlachen.
