Obituary for Helen June Wright

Helen June Wright, 84, of Palatka, Florida, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Vintage Care Senior Living in Palatka following an extended illness. Helen was born in Jamestown, Tennessee and in her youth, enjoyed playing high school basketball with the York Lady Dragons. In 1961, she married Joe Wright and moved to Muncie, Indiana where she resided until moving to Palatka in the late 1970’s. Helen loved music – bluegrass and country music being her favorites. Her favorite county music singers were George Jones and George Straight. She also enjoyed bowling with her husband, Joe and participated in bowling leagues both in Muncie, Indiana and in Palatka. She was a football fan, loving the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Tennessee Volunteers and the Cleveland Browns.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Samuel Wright, her parents, Charlie Smith Potter and Iness (Choate) Potter Crabtree, 3 brothers, Charlie Ray Potter, Roger Fay Potter and Jerry Dale Potter and a sister, Brenda Sue Newport.
Helen is survived by a sister-in-law, Janice Potter, nieces, Valarie Dennard, Megan Potter, Samantha Potter, Tracy See and Ginger Pippin, nephews, Robert Potter and Jac Q. Newport, great-nieces, Sophia Grace Shaver, Bethany Wright, Amanda Collier and Shelby Newport, great-nephews, Dozier Johnson, Jack Dalton Newport and Travis Tate and a host of other family members and friends.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Fentress Memorial Gardens in Jamestown. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 Noon until 12:50 P.M. at Jennings Funeral home in Jamestown.
Jennings Funeral Home of Jamestown is in charge of arrangements.
Local arrangements were entrusted to Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
