Obituary for Henrietta Margaret Platt
Henrietta Margaret “Sissy” Hodges Platt was born in Jacksonville, FL to Hiram and Rita Hodges. She grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1962. Sissy married Kenneth “Buddy” Platt and they lived in Jacksonville until their retirement when they moved to Green Cove Springs, FL. Sissy died on May 29, 2023, at the age of 78, at home and surrounded by her family.
Sissy was dearly loved and will be missed by friends and family alike, as she never separated the two. She entered any occasion looking for someone to greet and compliment, and in her own special way, make them feel special to her. She loved her church family at McDowell Baptist Church in St. Augustine, along with horses, cats, dogs, bright colors, feminine flowers, beaches, silver jewelry, traveling the world, and her special network of close girlfriends. Above all, Sissy loved and cherished her son, John Patrick Platt.
Sissy was predeceased by her parents, Hiram Hodges, and Rita Singer. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Platt, son, John Patrick Platt, sisters, Shirley and Barbara, many nieces and nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, June 24, 2023, at McDowell Baptist Church, 16 Bay View Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32084 at 11:30 a.m. In memory of Sissy, the family welcomes donations in her name to be made to Vitas Community Connection, PO Box 645352, Cincinnati, OH 45264-5352 or to McDowell Baptist Church, 16 Bay View Dr., St. Augustine, FL 32084.
