Howard Dean Register, 76, of Bostwick, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at his home following an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Putnam County and had worked as a millwright for Georgia Pacific for 39 years. He was of the Baptist faith and in his leisure time, Howard enjoyed mowing grass, driving his tractor, and watching wildlife.
He is preceded in death by his parents, I. B. “Scott” Register and Doris Harvey Register, and siblings, Glenn Register and Velma Lacy.
He is survived by his loving companion of 32 years, Cheryl O’Quinn of Hollister, son, Brett Register of Bostwick, sister, Patricia Gwinn of Orange Park, grandchildren, Alicia Register, Dwayne Register, Bryce Register and Brylyn Register, Cheryl’s daughter, Brande Gutierrez (Jason) and her children Elivia, Halie and Joseph Gutierrez as well as special friends, Tina Jackson of Hollister and Patricia Warf of Interlachen.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. David Eddins officiating. Burial will follow at Bostwick Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
