Hoyle Ray Bohanan, 76, of Hollister, went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Knoxville, TN to Clyde and Ilene Bohanan on September 1, 1943. Ray was a heavy equipment engineer and traveled to work in the Bahamas and Jamaica and many states and various jobs including building the Palatka Memorial Bridge, ice roads in Maine and construction of the monument at Put-In-Bay, Ohio. He was talented and could do most anything and loved to work with wood and made many things for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by is parents, 3 sisters, Aledda Hockaday, Juanita Latham and Pam Boles and a brother, Harold Bohanan.
Ray leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 54 years, Glenda, a son, Trevor Ray Bohanan of Interlachen, a grandson, Michael Ray Bohanan, U.S. Coast Guard, sisters, Sherry (Richie) Driggers of Francis, Mary (Ronnie) Markel of Palatka, Betty Jo Evans of Knoxville, TN, Linda (Kent) Croft of Thomasville, GA, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of good friends, Frank Cone, Bud Yoder, Sherwood Gustafson, Lowell Thompson and a special buddy Helge Hem of Oslo, Norway who also taught him to fly airplanes.
Private graveside services for the family will be at PineView Cemetery in Interlachen.
