Irma Kay Strickler, 74, of Lake Como, passed from this life on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at UF Health Shands in Gainesville. A native of Ocala, she resided in Crescent City and Lake Como for the past 52 years moving here from Jacksonville. Years ago, she worked several years as the program director at Lakeshore Nursing Home. For over 40 years, Irma Kay owned and operated a cake and pastry business “Delicious Designs”. She was known throughout Putnam County as “The Cake Lady”. Irma Kay had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star. In addition to enjoying sewing, Irma Kay loved traveling all over the country with her husband Richard in their RV.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard W. “Dick” Strickler, her parents, W.F. and Mary Carter, 2 brothers, Dean Cook and Robert Cook and a sister, Dorothy Cook.
Irma Kay is survived by her children, Elise Frazer (Michael) of Pittsburgh, PA, Robin Strickler (Sherri) of Micanopy, Andy Strickler (Paula) of Omaha, NE and Ruth Ann Kellerman (Robert) of Port Orange, a brother, Eddie Carter (Mary Ann) of Ocala, 9 grandchildren, Meredith Juchniewicz (Rich), Andrew Matson, Wesley Strickler, Lauren Habiak (Chris), Matthew Strickler (Marissa), Sarah Lahman (Dustin), Andrew Strickler, Robert Kellerman and Rachael Kellerman and 4 great-grandchildren, Easton Glenn Lahman, Emersyn Louise Lahman, Grady Richard Strickler and Zephram Robert Juchniewicz.
Due to concerns with the Covid 19 virus, private family services will be held with burial in Lake Como -Pomona Park Cemetery.
