Obituary for Jimmy Clark

James Morgan “Jimmy” Clark, 81, of Palatka, passed from this life on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Kindred Hospital North Florida in Green Cove Springs following an extended illness. He was a native of Crossett, Arkansas and had lived in Putnam County since 1946. Jimmy attended the University of Florida where he played trumpet in the Pride of the Sunshine Marching Band. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he had lead singing. Jimmy was an electrician at Hudson Pulp & Paper Co. (Georgia Pacific) retiring in 2000 following 42 years of service. He was also a Master Gardener and the inventor of the gardening tool “Weed Hawk.” In his leisure time, Jimmy enjoyed fishing, shrimping, and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Elaine Clark and his parents James and Mary Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gail Clark, son, Eric Clark (Karen), daughter, Cheryl Johns (George), sister, Vicki Fletcher all of Palatka, as well as 5 grandchildren, Staci Johns, Casey Johns, Paul Johns, Brandon McMurray, Colin Clark and great-granddaughter, Sophia Sankowski.
Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka.
