Obituary for James M. Barnsley

James M. Barnsley, Jr., 86, of Olney, MD passed away peacefully at his home after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Jim was born in Baltimore, MD to James M. Barnsley, Sr. and Mary Cornett Barnsley. Jim (“Mr. B”) was the owner of Country Boy Market for 67 years. Country Boy opened in 1955 in Wheaton, MD and moved to Glenmont in 1982. The store was his life, which he ran with his two sons. Jim also enjoyed his time on his cattle farm in Crescent City. Jim’s idea of relation was working on his farm and enjoying time with his family. He was a pioneer member of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair, in addition to being a member of the Senior Farmers Club of Sandy Spring, the Florida Cattleman’s Association and the Wheaton Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Blevins Barnsley, his high school sweetheart. They’ve been married for 66 years. They have 4 children, James M. Barnsley, III and wife Savina Casey Barnsley; Thomas A Barnsley and wife Tina Repass Barnsley; Cynthia Barnsley Thomas and husband Steve Thomas; Elizabeth Barnsley Money and husband Mike Money. They have 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 2, 2023 at Eden Cemetery in Crescent City with Pastor David Simpson officiating.
