James Lee “Jimmy” Goodwin, 69, of Interlachen, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at UF Health Shands in Gainesville following an extended illness. He was a native of Memphis, TN and had lived in Putnam County for more than 20 years coming from Hollywood, FL. James had worked in residential construction. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Interlachen ward. He enjoyed taking the boat out, fishing and shrimping, and riding his Harley. James loved having the family over for holidays, especially Easter.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Goodwin, and brothers, Wayne and Eugene Goodwin.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer L. Goodwin, mother, Wanda Nelson, brothers, Kenny Goodwin, Michael Goodwin, sisters, Patricia Charron and Eva Maggio, stepmother, Jean Goodwin, stepbrothers, Richard Sherman and Alfred Reed, stepsisters, Carol Sherman and Jean-Marie Reed, grandchildren, Lil Brian and Brooke Manning, 8 nieces, 7 nephews, 16 great-nieces and 22 great-nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Interlachen ward with Bishop Andrew Geddes officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Cemetery in Mannville. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 9:00 am until time of services.
