Obituary for James E. Pendleton

James E. Pendleton, 60, of Interlachen, passed from this life on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a native of West Hamlin, WV and had been a resident of Interlachen for 40 years coming from Ranger, WV. James had worked in various positions from driver to sales to plant manager with Florida Rock for 20 years and had also been an owner operator truck driver for a decade. He attended Bethel Assembly of God in Interlachen. In his younger years James was a Master Scuba Diver and always an avid Gator fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray Pendleton and Sherry Prichard, sister, Vanita Joann Turley, brother, Denver Lee Prichard, grandmothers, Orpha Pendleton and Elsie Browning and grandfathers, Bill Pendleton, and Pete Johnson.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 42 years, Kathy Pendleton, daughter, Layna Katherine Pendleton who was the light of his life, foster daughter, Bethany Chiba (Tomoya), siblings, John Pendleton (Shelley), Billy Pendleton (Bonnie), Arden Prichard (Teresa), Doug Prichard (Della), Alan Prichard (Darlene) and Anita Spears, loving uncle, Ronnie Pendleton (Lisa), as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Interlachen with Pastor Mike McColley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 2:00 pm until time of services. Interment will be held in West Virginia at a later date.
