Obituary for Janetta Marie Meredith

On July 7th, 1938, our mother Janetta Marie Drake Meredith was born the only child of James Allen Drake and Edith Marie Fitzgerald in Perry County Tennessee. Mother left this life on January 5th, 2023, at Advent Health Hospital in Daytona Beach surrounded by her two daughters and family following an extended illness. She was known in our area by many names which she loved and had a smile for each. She worked in hospitality and sales for several years. She was the food and beverage manager at the Holiday Inn, Penny Saver, and other eateries in our area. In her leisure time she enjoyed singing and playing music. Whatever name you knew her by, the love was always the same, Mama, Skinny Granny, Baby Granny, Netter, flossy, or Jan. She didn’t have many friends because if you were around much you became one of her children.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, the father of her children Dorris Thomas Meredith and an infant son Mitchell Thomas Meredith.
Surviving her are her daughters and sons in love Rose Vaught (Ed) of Palatka and Lisa King (Donnie) of Fruitland. Grandchildren Selena Smith, Terry Smith (Jessi) Stacey Tilton (Julian) and James Romig (Julie). Great grandchildren Cheyanne King (Frankie), Skyla Fields (Casey), Kristen Carter, Michael Tilton, Charlee and Taylor Smith, Ethan and Mason Tilton, Traven McNair, James and Justin Romig. Great-Great Grandchildren, Carter Fields, Brayden Bruno, and Weston Tilton. Her two fur babies Scooby, and Molly Mae.
Our blended family have brought us much love- In the 70’s Mary Jane Romig became her sister by choice.
Mother had care takers that loved her dearly and she referred to as her girls Gina, Tammy, and Anya.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Ricky Bybee officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 2:00 pm until time of services.
