Janice Faye Duke, 83, of Palatka, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Bayview Healthcare in St. Augustine following an extended illness. She was a native of Buena Vista, Ohio and had lived in Putnam County since 1973 coming from Ohio. Janice was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed cooking, bowling and listening to country music. She was always happy and smiling. Janice loved talking to everyone and she never met a stranger.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Duke, a daughter, Carolyn White, brothers, Walter, Harvey, David and Junior Newman and sister, Marie Plymail.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Cheyne (Thomas) of Palatka, sisters, Betty Baumgardner and Helen Circle, brother, George Fred Newman, sister-in-law, Joyce Newman, grandchildren, Melissa, Michael and Crystal Cheyne and great-grandchildren, Alexia Cheyne.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Ricky Bybee officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m. until time of services.
