Obituary for Joan Elaine Carter

Joan Elaine Carter, 86, of Satsuma, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. She was a native of Marquette, MI and had lived in Putnam County for the past 75 years. Joan was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church since 1947. She graduated from Putnam County High School in 1953 and was a member of the National Beta Club. Joan enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom for several years, before working as a title clerk for Palatka Ford, St Johns Chevrolet and Freeman’s Nissan. Joan was an avid bowler for several years. In her leisure time she also enjoyed working in the yard and working on her Koi fish pond. Joan’s greatest joy was caring for and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by son, Greg Thompson, daughter, Teresa Danlovich and parents, William and Belva Bragg.
She is survived by her husband Wade F. Carter of Satsuma, daughter, Brenda Edson (Steve) of Palm Coast, sons, Buddy Thompson (Diane) of Melrose, Bill Thompson of Palatka and Neal Thompson of Satsuma, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at St. Monica Catholic Church in Palatka with Father Ron Camarda as celebrant. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens.
