Joey Lee Grimsley, 34, of Hawthorne, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at UF Health – Shands in Gainesville. Born in Brandon, Florida, he lived most all his live in Hawthorne, FL. Joey worked most of his life in the family owned business, The Chitter Chatter Pallet Yard. Some of his favorite things were fishing, NASCAR, Gator football and building anything with his hands. Joey loved his family and especially his boys, Joey (Jay) Lee Grimsley, Jr. and Jacob Edwards Grimsley. He was described as having the biggest heart and a very caring soul, leaving and unforgettable imprint on anyone he came across. He was also the realest and most transparent person there was, you could love him as he was or not at all.
He joined his granny, Dorothy Bruce, in Heaven and is survived by his 2 sons, Joey (Jay) Lee Grimsley, Jr. and Jacob Edwards Grimsley, his mother, Janell Bruce, his father, Joseph Grimsley, his 2 brothers, Jamie Walton Grimsley and Jessie Dale Grimsley, sister-in-law, Alisha Grimsely, his right-hand Grandpa, Jimmy Lee Bruce, his family friend, Ray Maxwell and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Memorial services celebrating Joey’s life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Interlachen.
