John Daniel Cone, 68, of Palatka, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Putnam County and had worked as a logger. Daniel was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was happiest when spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tillman and Ruby Cone, brothers, Mitchell Cone, Richard Cone, George Cone and William Cone and sister, Ethel Mae Cone.
He is survived by his spouse of 38 years, Sheila Cone, children, Denise Devergara (Matt), Kytrina Brown (Alan), Johnny Smith (Jenni), Lee Cone, Bryan Cone (Tina), and Missy White (Shawn), sisters, Lorraine Pipkins and Romaine Roberts, 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and all his other babies that called him Papa.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Bardin with Bro. Joe Young officiating. Burial will follow in Etoniah Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Oak Hill Baptist Church on Monday, May 9, 2022, between 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
