Jose Gomez Vazquez, 46, of Interlachen, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, he resided in Interlachen for 10 years coming from Puerto Rico. Jose had worked 10 years as a machine operator at Softex Paper Company in Palatka. Prior to that he worked with Shadow Trailers in Ocala. Jose enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and raising animals.
He was preceded in death by his father, Generoso Gomez.
Jose is survived by his mother, Carmen Vazquez of Interlachen, 3 brothers, Roberto Gomez, Edwin Gomez and Raphael Gomez, all of Interlachen, 3 sisters, Maria Gomez and Noemi Gomez both of Boston, MA and Wanda Torres of Puerto Rico, nieces and nephews, Wilfredo Gomez, Edwin Gomez, Roberto Gomez, Christian Gomez, Roberto Gomez, Brittney Rodriguez, Brian Rodriguez, Astrid Rodriguez, Yoldi Gomez, Angel Gomez and Xiomara Zapata and his sisters-in-law, Celines Vazquez and Damary Gomez.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Father Pablo Fuentes as officiant. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00.
