Obituary

Joseph Jackson “Joey” Harris, 52, “The Legend of Salt Springs”, passed from this life unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from natural causes. Born in Jacksonville, he resided in Salt Springs for 23 years moving there from Satsuma. He had owned several businesses including Appliance City and Spurs Saloon in Palatka. He had also owned and operated a pirate food business under the name of Jolly Roger of St. Johns. Joey was likewise a carpenter in the construction industry and was considered to be a “jack of all trades”. When he wasn’t working, Joey enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding in his airboat. Joey loved to hang out with his many friends and will always be remembered as a man who cared about his friends and was always helping other people with whatever their needs were.
He is survived by his companion, B. Griffis of Salt Springs, a son, Gator Harris and fiancé Railee of East Palatka, his mother, Mary Edgy of Yulee, his father and step-mother, John Harris and Suzi Burns of San Mateo and his brother, Tony Harris and wife Pam of Jacksonville.
The family will have a private memorial gathering at a later date.
Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at Joey’s Book of Memories page at www.johnsonoverturffunerals.com.
Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.

I worked at Spurs saloon for years and was part of the Spur's Family, a"spurs girl",lol. I moved to Ohio so I will not be able to attend services unfortunately. I remember many great times on the airboat with Joey, gator spotting, and buying him milk at the end of a long night of working at Walmart with Ronnie on his bike...he will be greatly missed by so many. Condolences and prayers to the many family and friends from all over...we love you.
