Julia Shirley Bolden, 94, of St. Augustine and formerly of Putnam County, passed from this life on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Bailey Center for Caring in St. Augustine following an extended illness. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she resided in the Palatka and Interlachen areas from 1967-2020 before moving to St. Augustine for the past 2 years. Julia worked many years as an administrative assistant in the Chemistry Department at the University of Florida until her retirement in 1992. Julia enjoyed traveling and camping, but her true love was time spent with her grand and great-grandchildren and her beloved canine companion, Penny.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Elmer “Hank” Bolden, her parents, Samuel and Frances Getelman, a son, Richard Wayne “Rick” Bolden and her siblings, Ralph Getelman, Helen Goldstein and Harriett Goldstein.
Julia is survived by 2 sons, Bruce Bolden (Janice) of St. Augustine and Tom Bolden (Cassie) of Gulfport, FL, 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Perpich (Nick) and Lori Wilkes (Jack) and great-grandchildren, Emily Perpich, Dalton Wilkes, Abby Perpich and Kyndal Wilkes.
A private family service will be held on Saturday.
