Katherine Marie Whitlock, 60, of Interlachen, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Jacksonville, raised in Hastings and spent most of her adult life in Putnam County. Katherine was a 1982 graduate of Hastings High School and had worked as a seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith. Kathy was a loving and caring person whose heart, arms and home was opened to anyone and everyone. She liked swimming, collecting Betty Boop stuff and loved being around younger people, especially her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ella Mae Whitlock, brothers, James W. “Buddy” Whitlock, Jr., Homer “Sparky” Murphy, James W. “Jayboy” Whitlock, III and sister, Bridgett W. Waters.
She is survived by her fiancé of 10 years, Roland Bessent, son, John Whitlock of Palatka, and siblings, Kevin Whitlock, Robert “Bobby” Whitlock (Rebecca), William “Bill” Whitlock (Holly), Michael Whitlock, James “Jimmy” Whitlock (Kathy), Cecelia W. Hale, Brenda Salmon (Jeremy), Diana Birge, Sandy W. Hayes, and Susie W. Teeple.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Bobby Whitlock officiating. No visitation is scheduled.
