Obituary for Kayla Rose Turner

Kayla Rose Turner, 23, of Palatka, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at UF Health Shands in Gainesville from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka. Kayla was a 2017 graduate of Palatka High School and had also attended St. Johns River State University. She had worked as a server at Chili’s and had also worked at Zaxby’s. Kayla enjoyed trips to the beach, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. She was a daddy’s girl who loved life and especially loved being a mom. Kayla was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Jennifer Elizabeth Rose Pegram, sister, Savannah Marie Turner and aunt, Kathy Whitlock.
She is survived by her son, Karter Lee Turner, father and bonus mother, James H. Turner, III and Tabatha, siblings, Todd A. Bush (Charlene N. Smith), Tyler R. Bush (Destiny L. Bush), Thomas J. Novak, Joseph Parrott, Riley Parrott, and Matthew Daniels, grandparents, James H. Turner, Jr. (Margie Reeves), Gail Smith, Shelva and Joe Vargovich, Gladys Turner, Peggy Brown and Wilbert C. Metz, father of her son, Chase Kellum, aunts and uncles, Danielle R. Turner (David Arndt), Amy and Lucky Recard, John Whitlock, Kermit and Nancy Rowe, Brandi Angel Rosario, Karen and Mark Neuschaefer, Mike Metz and William “Bubba” Turner, nieces and nephews, Bentley R. Bush, Paisley A. Bush, Preston L. Smith, and Grace L. Smith, cousins, Steve Strickler, Kim Ruhl Strickler, Tyler Recard, Emma Recard, Aaron and Kailee Rowe, Josh Rowe, Matthew Metz, Malcolm Metz, Caden Metz and Grayson M. Turner, as well as many friends who were like family to Kayla.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Kermit Rowe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 pm until time of services.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Karter Lee Turner.
