Obituary for Larry A. Hathy

Larry Allen Hathy, 60, of Sarasota and formerly of San Mateo, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in the comfort of his home with family and friends alongside. He was born April 19, 1960 in Conneaut, OH, and was raised in San Mateo.
Larry was a fun-loving big guy with an infectious smile, twinkle in his eye and always a chuckle which endeared him to all he met. He enjoyed sports, fast cars, cruises and may have been spotted in a casino or two. He was a very accomplished and competitive golfer (three hole-in-ones), racquetball player, and hunter.
Larry was well known and loved for the many vacations and golf trips he organized for groups of friends and families.
Larry graduated from Santa Fe College and was a devoted University of Florida Gator fan. He and his partners owned and operated Sarasota Cardiac Bypass Associates, providing perfusion services to physicians primarily in Sarasota and Manatee counties. He was respected and appreciated by his peers for his dedication and the quality of his work in the medical field.
He is preceded by his father, Sam and his mother, Louise.

He is survived by brothers, Sam Hathy (Mary), Dan Hathy, Mike Hathy (Kimberly), Gary Hathy (Kim) and sister, Sue Stone along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 3031 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Rev. Cliff Lyda officiating. Burial will follow at San Mateo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the funeral home.
