Leila Elizabeth Burdick, 84, of Chesterfield, NH and part-time resident of Hawthorne, FL, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at home in Hawthorne following a brief illness. A native of Franklin, NH, “Betty” as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was a homemaker and while in Florida was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Palatka, FL. Betty along with her husband, were the originators of the New Hampshire Snowmobile Museum located at Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, NH. She was also a member of the Andover Snowmobile Club. In addition to her love of snow and snowmobiling, she was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan. As her kids were growing up, she enjoyed watching them play baseball and in later years, enjoyed sunning in her daughter’s pool. But above all, she loved her family, all the cousins she grew up with, all her children and all her extended family members. Betty was loyal to a fault, loved with her whole heart and loved to laugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Franklin Burdick, a son, Mark Phillip Burdick, her parents, Philip Henry Nerden and Evelyn Sanborn Nerden, a sister, Jean Currier and her husband Richard as well as a nephew, Dick Currier.
Betty is survived by her children, Debra Burdick Mike and husband, William Mike of Hawthorne, FL, David George Burdick and wife Lucille of Berlin, NH, Douglas Franklin Burdick and significant other, Virginia Hill of Strafford, NH, Michael Scott Burdick and wife Ann of Chesterfield, VA and Stephen Labon Burdick and wife Carolyn of Orondo, WA, beloved nieces, Cynthia Nickerson and Lynda Nadeau, many extended relatives, a multitude of friends, club mates and town residents of Salisbury, NH where she had lived for over 70 years.
Family memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the: New Hampshire Snowmobile Museum Association, P.O. Box 10112, Concord, NH 03301.
