Obituary for Leona Pifer

Leona Pifer, 94 of Interlachen, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at
Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. Born in Allport,
Pennsylvania, she resided in Interlachen since 1989 coming from Woodland, PA. Leona was a
homemaker and was of the Lutheran faith. She had been involved with the ladies auxiliary of
the American Ex-Prisoners of War Association. Leona was a baker and cake decorator, enjoyed
crocheting and loved to cook and make up her own new recipes that she would share with
family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lawrence I. Pifer, a son, Lawrence
Lee Pifer, her parents, James and Fannie LeGrand, 4 brothers, James, Tom, Bob and Larry
LeGrand, 2 sisters, Martha Coble and Dorothy “Dot” Edlund and a great-grandchild, Olivia
Coates.
Leona is survived by a sister, Patricia Trimble of Ogden, UT, a daughter-in-law, Anna Pifer of
Interlachen, 4 grandchildren, Tammy Webber (William), Debra Johnston, Laura Coates (Byron)
and Lawrence A. Pifer, 9 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Vancas (Ryan), Marissa Rhine (Josh),
Haley Gathagan (C.J.), Albert Stephenson, Ashlyn McCreadie, Landon Coates, Tyler Johnston,
Braydon Coates and Madilyn Johnston, 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Leona’s life will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Johnson-
Overturf Chapel in Interlachen. Burial will take place next week at the Florida National
Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until the time
of services at 3:00 P.M.
