Obituary for Lillian W. "Sissie" Brown

Lillian Williams Brown “Sissie” age 81, of Bostwick, FL passed away on January 21, 2021 in Atlanta, GA following an extended illness. She retired from Publix after more than 20 years. She also worked at Kelley Smith Elementary School in the Grandmother Program and thoroughly loved and enjoyed her “extra” grandkids. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palatka, FL. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge 184. She enjoyed dancing, shopping and lunch dates with her girls and telling her many funny stories. Most important to Lillian was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Lillian was born to the late John and Margaret Williams on September 2, 1939 at the Glendale hospital, Palatka, FL.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, John “Cab” Williams, Martin Williams, Claude “Sonny” Williams, Henry Martin Williams and a precious cousin, who was more like a sister, Clara Belle Tillman.
She is survived by five children, Ardell (Angie) Burney of Palatka, Maggie Burney of Atlanta, GA, Mitchell Burney of Butler, GA, Phyllis (Kevin) Allen and Charlene (Bo) Taylor of Palatka, one brother, Clyde “Pratt” (Marilyn) Williams of Bostwick, and two sisters, Joyce (Homer) Barrow of Butler, GA and Lois (Ronny) Clark of Howard, GA, 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Quan) Barnhill and Mitchell (Shaina) Burney of Jacksonville, Byron (Lynn) Burney, Ashley Burney, Kyle Hutson of Palatka, Justis Mullins of Atlanta, GA, Brooke and Buck Taylor, Dane (Erin) Allen, Kaitlyn (Jerry) Allen of Palatka, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Bostwick Baptist Church with Brother David Eddins and John Martin “JMart” Williams officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Johnson Overturf Chapel in Palatka between 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
Due to concerns with the COVID-19 virus, all attending the services are encouraged to wear facial coverings when not practicing social distancing.
