Obituary for Lori Pons

Agnes L. “Lori” Pons, 65, of Palatka, passed from this life on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Ocala Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Grundy, Virginia, she resided in Palatka since 1980 coming from Grundy. Lori had worked as a receptionist at Good Housekeeping Gas and later as a bookkeeper with her late husband, Jeff’s business, Jeff’s Trucking. Lori was currently serving as clerk and treasurer at Trinity Baptist Church in Palatka. In addition to her position with the church, Lori had been involved in the children’s and women’s ministries, the finance team and church counsel and most every other aspect of the church’s ministries and operation. In her leisure time, Lori enjoyed mowing her grass and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 16 years, Jeff T. Pons, a brother, James Caperton and a Granddaughter, Ashley Grass.
Lori is survived by a daughter, Vickie Duncan (Kenny) of Palatka, like a son, Michael Grass of Interlachen, a half-brother, Lloyd Mullins of Richlands, VA, 4 sisters, Connie Watson of West Jefferson, NC, Ginger Reynolds (Lee) of Abingdon, VA, Renda Erdley of Jefferson City, TN and Janis Meadows (Kyle) of Abingdon, VA, 3 grandchildren, Cody Grass, Destyni Knight and Kyleigh Wigg and several nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Lori’s life will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor Willie B. McKinnon, III officiating. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at 2:00 P.M.
