Madeline Wilkinson Altman, 89, of Bostwick, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at her home following an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Bostwick. She had worked in retail sales with McCrory’s, Ackerman Stewart Drugs and The City Drug Store. Madeline was a very active member of Bostwick Baptist Church serving on numerous committees, teaching Sunday School, Bible School and singing in the choir. In her later years, her ministry focused on visiting the sick, shut-ins and nursing home residents of the community. She enjoyed traveling and was a great cook, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her family was her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Norman “Steve” Altman, a son, Steven Greg Altman. Madeline was the last survivor of 10 siblings. She is preceded in death by 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Anya Smith, Sheila Spengler (Randall), and sons, Duncan Altman (Elsie) and Eric Altman (Kelly), 3 “niece-daughters” as she called them, Linda Williams, Julie Rock and Linda Gale Buttram, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Bostwick Baptist Church with Bro. David Eddins officiating. Burial will follow in Bostwick Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

My first memory of Miss Madeline was her warm welcome to me and a beautiful heartfelt hug. She and I had many conversations and she always shared her love for the Lord. In the short time that I knew her, I grew to love her and through her ministry learned to love the Lord more and more! Her last wish to me was to continue loving the Lord God and to support the church, and to always maintain my faith! I will do my best to honor that request. Miss Maddy, I love you and will always miss you, but, I know you are home at last! Always in my heart, Michelle Goff
