Maebell Mikell, 99, of Palatka, passed from this life on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka. A native of Cody, Florida, she resided in Palatka since 1932 coming from McIntosh, FL. Maebell had worked with the Belk Department Store in Palatka for 16 years. Many years ago, she worked with Dr. Worth Brantley at a small hospital in Grandin. She was a member of College Park Baptist Church in Palatka. In her leisure time, Maebell enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, collecting Precious Moments ornaments and working seek and find puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Mikell, her step-son, John L. Mikell, a brother, Edward Griffin and 2 sisters, Cleve Cicardo and Perlie Eubanks.
Maebell is survived by a sister, Priscilla Kilgore of Palatka, a brother, Patrick Griffin (Polly) of Palatka, a grandson, John Charles Mikell (Michelle), 2 great-grandchildren, Courtney Mikell and Colby Mikell, a sister-in-law, Charlotte Griffin of Palatka and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Maebell’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Chaplain Jakie Carmicle officiating. Burial will follow at Paran Cemetery in Grandin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M.
