Magdalena Cortez Yglecias, 77, of Florahome, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at her home following an extended illness. She was a native of Los Angeles, CA and had lived in Putnam County since 2006 coming from Flagler County. She had worked as a certified nursing assistant. Magdalena enjoyed dancing, playing slot machines, shopping and listening to music. She was happiest when spending time with her family including her beloved pets.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paulino and Hermelinda Cortez, and brother, Edward Cortez.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jose Yglecias of Florahome, children, Bonnie Wright (Bob) of Hastings, Lydia Zaldivar (Anthony Avila) of DeBary, Sandra Helton (Andy) of Melrose, Leticia Flores of Daytona Beach, David Flores of Bunnell and Daniel Flores (Priscilla) of North Smithfield, RI, sister, Rose Fierro of San Diego, CA, 28 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor Dave Spedden officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 3:00 until time of services.
